Quick and versatile

OAKWOOD Joinery Services is a modern, dynamic joinery manufacturer. A combination of recent investment in modern machinery and a custom built factory in Sudbury, along with a fully trained team of 19 joiners, enables the company to produce a wide range of purposemade joinery. With long term working relationships
with everyone from private individuals to major property developers, Oakwood’s portfolio ranges from one-off bespoke commissions to large contracts. Four months ago, the company invested in a refurbished RF machine from Alan Lamont of Lamont, similar to the one pictured above, in order to speed up processes and free up workshop space. Oakwood Joinery undertakes a wide variety of work: new build and refurbishments, windows, doors, conservatories, kitchens and panel work, with an emphasis on external rather than internal work. Oakwood’s Scott Grimwood told PW&SS that the company became aware that gluing processes were creating a production bottle - neck, and he began to research solutions. Scott became aware of Lamont and its range of refurbished woodwelders through a personal recommendation from another company. After researching Lamont on the internet, Scott says, he “gave Alan a call and he popped down to see us.” Following this visit, Scott selected the Lamont refurbished RF woodwelder to speed up his gluing because “he [Alan] has a good product”. RF gluesetting technology can reduce a process that takes hours with air drying down to seconds. Scott described the main advantages of his gluesetter as “production speed and versatility, and it is easy to use.” He added that it frees up workshop space — which also “keeps the place a lot tidier”! The RF gluesetter is used at Oakwood Joinery for work on
panels, rails, worktops: “anything that needs laminating,” says Scott.
When asked if he would recommend it, he replied, “I certainly
would!” See Lamont at W12 on the JMJ Woodworking stand.
